June 5, 2024

Name: Casey Gutting

Job Title: Chief Marketing Officer

Email: caseygutting@triplecrownsports.com

Hometown: Fort Collins, CO

Family: I'm the oldest of three kids – younger brother is Shaun and younger sister is Erin. My parents are Steve and Mary Gutting; both have lived in Fort Collins for 30+ years. They were in education for many years, as teachers, coaches and in educational publishing. My siblings and I all attended Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins. Shaun is an assistant basketball coach at Southern Utah University, and Erin is a regional manager of PNC Banks in Northern Colorado.

I am happily married to my lovely wife of two years, Sarah. We have a 5-month-old son named Theo Jace Gutting; he's the heir to the Gutting namesake, so we're very excited to be new parents! Sarah is a born and raised Angeleno, and a Dodgers fan, but we try not to hold that against her. We met in Los Angeles while I was working in the scripted TV industry. We initially bonded over our mutual love for the Denver Broncos and the Kansas Jayhawks. She eventually pulled me out of the TV industry and into marketing as a profession, which led me here.

College attended: Univ. of Northern Colorado/Univ. of Colorado at Colorado Springs (2004).

Sports background: My proudest individual moments were being an all-state basketball Colorado selection my senior year at RMHS, as well as the Northern Colorado co-player of the year, and being listed as a Top 5 Fort Collins HS player of all-time by the Coloradoan, and a McDonald's All-American nominee. I received a basketball scholarship to UNC Greeley; after redshirting a year and then playing two years, I transferred to UCCS and became the team captain, starting PG and earned all-conference honors in both my junior and senior years. I'm very proud of those accomplishments.

I was also the president of the Student-Athlete Academic Committee and helped develop the committee program within the UCCS athletic department. After college, I had a quick cup of coffee in professional basketball at the CBA/ABA level, which eventually became the G-League. The most humbling defeat was also one of the most incredible overall basketball experiences in my entire life: During college, I played in Chauncey Billups' pro-am summer league in Denver. We eventually played Chauncey's summer league team, and amazingly Chauncey actually showed up for the game. I guarded Chauncey for the majority of the game and he (half-effort) guarded me as well. I had a great game, scored around 20 points, and contributed to our team being in the lead by 10 with about 2 minutes left.

Then, with 2 minutes left in the game, Chauncey walked the ball up the floor and decided he was going to win the game. He then proceeded to score 12 straight points on me, while we shrank into obscurity, giving his team the win and destroying my pride. I've never felt more exposed on a basketball court in my entire life. It was incredibly humbling but also an awesome basketball story to have.

Hobbies: All sports – I will watch and/or play pretty much anything that is competitive. I absolutely love basketball, baseball, football and golf but I try to pay attention to just about everything. My athletic ability has pretty much been reduced me to slow-pitch softball and golf, with an occasional return to the basketball court for a pickup game. I'm a huge movie and TV buff, having worked in the entertainment industry for many years. And I love being a new Dad to my5-month-old son; he's the biggest "outside hobby" I've got currently.

Favorite trip: Toss-up between Costa Rica and Ireland, absolutely phenomenal trips to both places.

How did you become associated with Triple Crown?: As a kid, I was familiar with Triple Crown baseball and I definitely played in tournaments. I also had several baseball friends from Rocky that worked events. I've followed TC's growth ever since.

What intrigues you the most about Triple Crown?: The sports industry is a dream come true to join; I was also drawn to the core values and the company culture at TC. The people here are what ultimately drew me and piqued my interest.
